BILL HUBER, JR., GLENN COCHRAN & RON SHOUP, with PATRICK HUBER
Bill Huber, Jr, Glenn Cochran and Ron Shoup all started to play a variety of instruments at an early age and they were all members of family bands.
Bill Huber, Jr. at age thirteen, started played guitar and drums many nights weekly with his father, Bill Huber, who was a famed local guitarist. Bill treasures the 14 years of full time and 20 more part time years he spent playing music with his father and other family members, at home as well as at numerous local establishments, and all around northwest PA. He continues the family band tradition by playing music with his mother, Jenny and three of his four sons, Patrick, Preston and William. For approximately 14 years, Bill Jr. was a guitarist with the former area band Lawyers, Guns & Money and he also plays with the group since the band is now performing again. Bill has also performed solo for dinners, weddings and organizational meetings throughout the area!
Bill’s son, Patrick Huber, is the drummer for the guitar trio, but also enjoys playing the piano and the guitar. He has been a musician since he was 10 years old. Currently, Patrick attends Venango College of Clarion University with a future goal of becoming an attorney.
For 25 years, Glenn Cochran and Ron Shoup were members of the guitar trio Phoenix, along with Glenn’s brother Don Cochran, now deceased, also a renowned area guitarist. The Phoenix trio performed at many local establishments, festivals, parties and weddings. For 8 years, they provided dinner music two nights per week at Cross Creek Resort and for 9 years they provided weekly dinner music at the Franklin Club. Prior to the formation of the Phoenix guitar trio, Glenn and his brother Don played music in multiple other bands over a 20 year period that included Southern Comfort, the DC3, the Blue Notes and many others. Glenn has also performed solo and with other musicians.
Ron Shoup was a member of the Phoenix trio and has played guitar with numerous other performers. He has also performed solo at festivals, civic clubs and at church functions. He plays a variety of instruments and has been an area guitar teacher and luthier for over 35 years.
